RWGA Sandgreens Championship at Holbrook 2023

The RWGA Sandgreens Championship was held at Holbrook on Wednesday May 31.

We had almost 60 ladies playing in three divisions on a damp and wintry day. The rain held off and, although the greens were tricky, a great day was had by all.

Margaret Naseby from Coleambally was the big winner of the day. Margaret took out the RDAGA Perpetual Trophy for best scratch score, the Alisa Rossiter Memorial Perpetual Trophy for the best nett score and the Olive Iverach Perpetual Trophy for the Veteran’s best nett score. Congratulations Marg! All the above were won on a countback from Chris Mildren from Commercial Albury after both ladies scored 83 off the stick and 71 nett.

The Ganmain Associates Perpetual Trophy for best scratch score in Division 2 was won by Glenda Whitby from Narrandera with 92 on a countback from Janet Beverley from Henty. Janet was the Handicap winner for division 2 with 72 nett while runner up Glenda Whitby had 73 nett.

Lea Parker from Holbrook was the winner of the Jo Kay & Gail O’Halloran Trophy for Division 3 scratch with a score of 102 ahead of runner up Teresa Waters from Holbrook who had 107. Lea was also the handicap winner, taking the countback from Teresa after they both had 74 nett.

The RWGA executive would like to thank all those who supported this event and we look forward to next year’s Sandgreens Championship in Ganmain.
